The Geneva Panthers varsity football team cruised to victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Wayne Eagles by a score of 31-7 in the NYS Class B Qualifier game.Panther’s running backs Kyle Cosentino and Mark Suchewski led the charge with 78 yards and 110 yards rushing respectively and a touchdown each. But it was Cosentino’s 14 tackle and one interception on defense that helped secure the easy win.Wayne quarterback Nathan Currier threw the ball 34 times, only completing 13 of those attempts and having four more end up in the hands of the Geneva secondary. He threw for one touchdown and also picked up 57 yards on the ground.Panther quarterback Jack Wallwork threw for 67 yards and a touchdown to Joseph Richardson.The Eagles conclude their season with a 6-4 mark in a year they captured the school’s first ever Sectional championship.Geneva currently stands at 9-1 and will prepare for states next weekend.
