At 10:55 am on Sunday morning, Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies, Emergency first responders, Penn Yan Fire Department and Medic 55 were called to 3291 Hoyt Road, in the Town of Milo for an unconscious two-year-old boy reported to 911 center.Maxwell J. Bayer, the two-year-old son of Thomas Bayer Jr., age 24, and Alyssa Chapin, age 23, was taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital by Penn Yan Ambulance and pronounced dead at 11:34 am.Coroner Brian Murphy has ordered the body taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner for a forensic autopsy to determine cause of death.Preliminary investigation indicates that at the time of the incident Alyssa and three children were present in the home and the father was out.The children Maxwell, his twin brother Mason Bayer and sister Myah Chapin, age 5, had been upstairs playing and after twenty minutes Alyssa went to check on them and discovered Maxwell hanging unconscious in a bedroom closet from a shoe string around his neck that appeared to be tied by both ends to a clothes pipe and being played with.Investigation continues into this child’s death by Sheriff’s Investigators at this time.
