The Yates County Sheriff’s Office haa received reports that lake level is low in places between the mouth of the Outlet and the boat launching site in Penn Yan. One boater reported motor prop damage yesterday. The state has already removed the warning buoys for the season and boaters need to be aware of levels in places that may cause hazard to navigation for damage to outboard motor propellers and other equipment. It is recommended that speeds be reduced to less than authorized and operators be aware as the lake bottom not consistent in some areas. The Penn Yan Municipal Board that controls the gates for water flow out of Keuka Lake to Seneca have them set on the auto clock consistent with the recommended Army Corps of Engineers depths and out flow at this time of the year (currently 713.3). Thus, appropriate gates are open for the winter draw-down according to schedule.
