Romulus native, actor Chris McDonald arrested for DWI in North Carolina

Actor Christopher McDonald was reportedly arrested for driving while intoxicated in North Carolina in the overnight hours of Wednesday morning. McDonald is believed to be in North Carolina for the filming of a new movie.McDonaldThe 58 year old actor and Romulus, NY native was stopped by North Carolina Highway Patrol officers in Wilmington early Wednesday morning according to a report posted at TMZ.McDonald is best known for his role as Shooter McGavin in “Happy Gilmore” but has also starred in the acclaimed drama “Requiem for a Dream” among other movies and appearances.McDonald was born in New York City, but was raised in Romulus, and is a graduate of Hobart College in Geneva. McDonald is married to Lupe Gidley, and together they are the parents of four children.TMZ also reported that McDonald was handcuffed and taken to the New Hanover County jail after being found with a blood-alcohol level of .15, nearly twice the legal limit.Local media also reported that he was released on $1,000 bail and faces a December 11th court date.
