Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Fatal Motor Vehicle accident that occured on Thursday morning in the town of Summerhill.At about 7:22 am on Thursday, a 1998 Pontiac traveling north on Champlin Road, failed to stop at the stop sign at State Route 90 and entered the path of a 2002 Chevy Sedan traveling east. The Pontiac was struck on the driver’s side; after impact it struck a ditch and tree then over turned.Operator of the Pontiac was Tyrone T. Williams, age 21, of Clinton Ave. in Cortland. Mr. Williams was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to Upstate Medical Center/University Hospital by Mercy Flight where he later died of his injuries.Operator of the Chevy was Kody P. Hatch, age 21, of Groton. Mr. Hatch was not injured.There was heavy fog reported in the area at the time of the accident. No tickets will be issued although an investigation is pending.Also assisting were the Cayuga County 911 Center, New York State Police, Homer Police Department, Homer Fire Department, Four Town Ambulance, Rural Metro Ambulance and Mercy Flight.
