After Mike Hollenbeck scored his second touchdown of the evening on Friday night, and Devon Tunley kicked the extra-point to give their team the lead with 2:00 minutes left on the clock in Ontario, the work wasn’t over for the Wayne Eagles. The Wayne defense needed a goal line stand as time expired to defeat the Penn Yan Mustangs, 33-32, on a wild Friday night Section V football game.Penn Yan trailed 26-12 at the half before scoring 20 points second half points to take a 32-26 lead in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough as the Mustangs fall to 1-3 on the season. Wayne improves to 3-1.For the Eagles, Nathan Currier thre for 152 yards and three touchdowns, Mike Hollenbeck had three receptions for 77 yards to go along with his two TD’s. Cameron LaForce was a “force” on special teams with 160 return yards including an 85 yard kick-off return and a 75 yard punt return, both for touchdowns. Kyle Gallo also caught a touchdown pass to round our the scoring.Next Friday night, Penn Yan will host the undefeated Geneva Panthers who edged out ER/Gananda this week.For Wayne, they’ll host the Waterloo Indians in Week 5.
