Flower Show starts Friday at Sonnenberg

It has been more than twenty years since Sonnenberg Gardens last hosted a flower show. But on September 27th & 28th artistic floral creations will again be on display throughout the Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park. The floral displays are expected to include a variety of designs and material – everything from asters to zucchini! These designs will be located throughout Sonnenberg’s gardens as well as the Mansion, Aviary, and Carriage House. Be sure to look for displays such as arrangements to compliment vintage gowns in the Mansion, floating creations in the Rock Garden pools, and hanging designs in the Old Fashioned Garden. The Carriage House will feature horticultural specimens, floral craft entries such as “tussie mussies” which are tiny bouquets, and educational displays such as “Poisonous Plants in Your Home.” The Aviary building will feature the new show category of “Photography” which will feature garden and botanical photographic images. The show will take place Friday, September 27th, 1 pm – 5 pm and Saturday, September 28th, 9:30 am – 4 pm. There will be a special general admission price of $8 per person all day Friday and Saturday that will allow visitors entry to both the flower show and Sonnenberg Gardens. Food and floral arrangement materials will be on sale.“Fall Pleasures,” a benefit for Sonnenberg Gardens, is a special presentation made possible through the joint efforts of ten garden clubs from Ontario and Wayne counties: Bloomfield, Canandaigua, Hoe ‘n’ Hope of Geneva, Macedon, Newark, Sodus, Sonnenberg, Town of Ontario, Valentown, and Victor.
