The 8th Annual Seneca County Kite with your Kid/Grandkid Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 AM-3 PM. This year the event will be hosted by and located at the Waterloo Library on William Street, Waterloo, NYOnce again the Seneca County Stop DWI Committee will fund this very important prevention activity. The event is sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Council on Alcoholism and Addictions of the Finger Lakes. The prizes are donated by the Community Health and Safety Fair Committee.This year the first 50 children will be given kites to decorate. The kites should have a positive message/activity for children to participate in to help keep them from using alcohol and drugs and to make healthy choices in their life. This will be done between 10AM & -12 NOON.At noon the finished kites will be judged, by age group, by Undersheriff Gary Sullivan, Chairperson, STOP DWI, Waterloo Police Chief, Doyle Marquart and Brandy Rozelle, Library Manager of Waterloo Library.At 12:15-1 Waterloo Chief Doyle Marquart will do an interactive reading of either Harvey Potter’s Balloon Farm or Balloons, Balloons, Balloons with families.At 1:00-3:00 the Disney/Pixar movie “UP” will be shown in Fatzinger Hall Theatre.Between 10AM – 3PM the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office will conduct an OPERATION SAFE CHILD ID program, where parents can register their children and be provided with a plastic card with the child’s vital information and photograph. Also during this time, members of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and Waterloo PD will be conducting a Child Safety Seat inspection and installation program. Certified technicians will be available to ensure child safety seats are installed correctly. A limited number of free car seats will be available during this time All events are free and open to the public.
