Seneca County Sheriff deputies responded to a residential structure fire at 116 Border City Road in Geneva shortly after midnight on Monday morning.Deputies report that the residence which is owned by Willie Russ, age 63, and Deborah Russ, age 61, caught fire around 12:54 am and quickly spread throughout the residence.Deborah sustained burn injuries on her feet and and upper arms while attempting to leave the residence and was transported to Geneva General hospital by North Seneca Ambulance then flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment where she is listed in stable condition.Responding to the scene was Border City Fire Dept, Waterloo Fire Dept, Geneva Fire Dept, North Seneca Ambulance and the Fingerlakes Ambulance. Deputies report that the home sustained heavy damage.Investigators believe that the fire was apparently caused by Willie Russ having a lit cigarette in bed which ignited the mattress.
