Opening night in area high school football saw Geneva, Newark, Wayne, Clyde-Savannah, Mynderse and Canandaigua all get off to a hot start to the 2013 fall campaign.Pal-Mac 6 Wayne 45 The Wayne Eagles rushed for over 450 yards led by 208 yards and 4 touchdowns from Justin Morrison as they easily defeated Pal-Mac in their home opener in Ontario. The Wayne defensive effort was led by Kyle Gallow with 8 tackles while Tyler Cummings and Kevin Hayes each recovered fumbles.Penn Yan 0 Newark 16 Newark quarterback Phil Tack threw for 208 yards, 128 of them to Micah Wright, including a touchdown strike to help the Reds over the Penn Yan Mustangs on Friday night in Newark. The Mustangs were shutout despite 72 yards on the ground from John Martisch.Waterloo 6 Geneva 41 The Geneva Panthers rolled over Waterloo on Friday night in Geneva led by Josh Jackson’s 170 yard rushing effort. Jackson also found paydirt twice while teammate Joey Richardson had a pair of receiving touchdowns. The Geneva defense held Waterloo to just 91 total yards of offense in the 35 point victory.Canandaigua 48 HF-L 7 Canandaigua opened their 2013 season on the road and came up with a convincing 41 point win over Honeoye Falls-Lima on Friday night. Jaymin Ransom ran for 195 yards on 25 carriers including three touchdowns. Brian Feldman added a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown while Eric Munn also scored on the defensive side of the ball for the Braves returning an interception 60 yards for a touchdown.Midlakes ER/Gananda No reportLyons 14 Mynderse 22 The Mynderse Academy Blue Devils won their home opener for a second consecutive year in an exciting game in Seneca Falls on Friday night against the Lyons Lions. Chris Plate ran for 91 yards for Mynderse and scored one touchdown on the ground. Quarterback Liam Caraher threw for a touchdown and a 2 point conversion.
