The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce has announced that Dr. Rodney Littlejohn Orthodontics, of 1203 Waterloo-Geneva Road in Waterloo, was selected as the Chamber’s 2013 Small Business of the Year recipient. The award was announced and presented at the Chamber’s Annual Membership BBQ event, held at Knapp Vineyard Winery and Restaurant in Romulus on July 24. Dr. Rodney Littlejohn Orthodontics was one of six businesses nominated and voted on by was one of six businesses nominated and voted on by Chamber membership and committees.Since opening in 1982, Dr. Rodney Littlejohn’s office has been offering advanced and personalized care to customers seeking orthodontic assistance. The office features the latest technological procedures and equipment available in the orthodontic industry, including digital radiography, digital photography and advanced computer graphics. The office specializes in offering Invisalign® clear braces for adults, and AcceleDent System- a medical device that accompanies and accelerates conventional braces- all in their Tuscan-style, state-of-the-art facility. Dr. Littlejohn’s mission focuses on providing quality care, customer service, and reasonable rates, in a fun and relaxing environment.Outside of the office, Dr. Littlejohn’s team is very involved with the community as well. The office holds an annual Patient Appreciation Day, featuring an indoor arcade and ice cream truck, and hosts trips for local Girl Scout and Boy Scout clubs to learn about the importance of oral health and orthodontics.Dr. Littlejohn strongly values efforts towards continuing education- both personally, as well sharing his knowledge with others. In his spare time, he travels across the country to conferences and events, as an attendee and presenter, lecturing to orthodontic residents and practitioners on practice development, patient care and practice management. He is also a Clinical Instructor at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.Mary Sandroni, Public Relations Coordinator for Dr. Littlejohn Orthodontics office stated that, “Everyone at Dr. Littlejohn’s is still savoring the honor that we received, being named the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce 2013 Small Business of the Year.” “We were surprised to be included in the nominations, and so excited to then be the actual recipient of the award,” she added. “It is greatly appreciated, and we’re just thrilled.” Other nominees for the 2013 Small Business of the Year Award included: Downtown Deli/Nonni’s, Fingerlakes1.com, Muranda Cheese Company, Seneca Falls Veterinary Hospital, and Cayuga Lake Creamery. The Small Business of the Year program was developed by the Chamber in 2007 to recognize and celebrate the impact that small businesses have on local communities. Small businesses compose nearly 98 percent of businesses in New York State, accounting for more than half of the state’s private sector employment.Once again growing in attendance, the 2013 Membership BBQ was one of the largest-attended on record, with nearly 210 reservations. Abigail’s Restaurant catered the meal, and entertainment was provided by The Casey McDonald Band.
