On Sunday evening, Penn Yan Police arrested Arik J. Arden, age 22 of Dresden, after an investigation into an incident that Arden reported to police on Saturday evening at 9:35 pm.Arden allegedly called police and reported that he had been robbed at knife point by several individuals. Arden assisted police with the investigation and gave police a signed statement.Further investigation revealed that Arden’s story was false as the alleged incident had not occurred. Arden later admitted to police that he had made up the story as a way to get back at the individuals.Arden was arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident, making a false sworn statement, and five counts of unlawfully dealing with a child.The last charge stems from Arden giving cigarettes to five juveniles.Arden was released with an appearance ticket and will answer the charges in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
