FL1 nominated for small business of the year

The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce will host its main summer event- the annual Membership BBQ and Small Business of the Year Award celebration on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Knapp Winery & Vineyard Restaurant. The event will take place from 5:30–8:00 p.m. and feature catering by Abigail’s Restaurant and entertainment from The Casey McDonald Band.The highlight of the evening will include the announcement and presentation of the Small Business of the Year Award. Nominees for 2013 include: Downtown Deli/Nonni’s, Fingerlakes1.com, Muranda Cheese Company, Seneca Falls Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Rodney Littlejohn Orthodontics, and Cayuga Lake Creamery. In 2012, the Small Business of the Year Award was presented to Fuzzy Guppies, a human-powered water sports and rental business, located within Waterloo Harbor Campgrounds.Small Business of the YearThe Small Business of the Year program was developed by the Chamber in 2007 to recognize and celebrate the impact that small businesses have on communities- currently composing nearly 98 percent of businesses in New York State, and accounting for more than half of the state’s private sector employment. “We are pleased to honor all of the nominees and are eager to announce this year’s official Small Business of the Year award winner at the Chamber’s upcoming Membership BBQ,” stated Jeff Shipley, the Chamber’s Executive Director.Reservations are currently being taken for the event, and are required by July 15, 2013.
