Stuart Horse Trials cancelled in Victor – FingerLakes1.com Archive

After watching day after day of soaking rain take its toll on the grounds of the Cosequin Stuart Horse Trials in Victor, Event Organizer Heidi Vahue today made the decision to cancel this year’s 24th annual event, July 11-14. “It is with our deepest regret that we have to cancel the 2013 Cosequin Stuart Horse Trials. The safety of horses and riders are our top concern. With the extremely wet footing plus more rain forecasted for this week and next, we could not ensure safe conditions at this time.” She went on to to say, “As much as this was a difficult decision, it is the right decision, and we look forward to next year’s 2014 event—our 25th anniversary—with renewed effort.” Stuart Horse Trials thanks all of its sponsors, patrons, and hundreds of volunteers for their support and understanding, especially sponsors Cosequin of Nutramax Labs; Townline Truck and Trailer; Canandaigua Chrysler Dodge Jeep; Ram Truck; Farm Family Insurance; The Pike Company; and Wegmans; among many others. The Stuart Horse Trials have never had to cancel their competition before. This year, they are not the only event of its kind to do so. The Genesee Valley Hunt Horse Trials, scheduled to take place this weekend, canceled their event for the same reason.
