Ithaca police seek female in Thursday car fire

On Thursday morning at about 8:29 am, Ithaca Police Department officers responded to the intersection of West State Street and South Corn Street regarding a vehicle that was on fire. Responding officers arrived to find a Volvo station wagon on fire.Ithaca Fire Department personnel extinguished the flames.Witnesses in the area advised officers that a female was observed near the vehicle and looking into the windows of the vehicle just prior to the fire starting. Witnesses also advised officers that this same female was observed walking away from the vehicle after it was on fire.Ithaca Fire Department officials advised the origin and cause of the fire is suspicious in nature and arson is suspected.The vehicle was a total loss, according to responding officers.The aforementioned female is described as medium complexion, possibly Hispanic, average height and average build, with long dark hair.
