On Wednesday evening at about 10:00 pm, in the area of Munson Avenue, an officer of the Geneva Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations on Andes Avenue. As the Officer turned around his marked police vehicle, the vehicle attempted to flee the scene and crashed into a house located at 46 Munson Avenue, Geneva.The driver then fled the vehicle on foot. After approximately an hour ground search, the driver was located and taken into custody.Jahlil M. Hernandez of 104 William Street, Geneva 19 years of age was arrested on numerous NYS Vehicle & Traffic Violations including Driving While Intoxicated (Felony,) Aggravated Driving while Intoxicated, Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer, Reckless Driving. Mr. Hernandez is currently awaiting arraignment.During the foot pursuit and search One Officer of GPD sustained an injury to his hand. Ontario County Sheriffs & Geneva Fire Department assisted in the Investigation. No other persons were injured.
