Waterfront Fest in Watkins Glen this weekend

Held in Watkins Glen at the picturesque Seneca Harbor Park…this extraordinary waterfront event captures the spirit of the Finger Lakes and is chocked full of “family style” fun. The week-end begins Friday evening with Harbor Lights, a relaxing escape from a hectic work-week. As dusk becomes night, Harbor Lights offers an escape to paradise amid the enchanting peacefulness and beauty of Seneca Harbor. Unique to the Finger Lakes, Harbor Lights is enchanting and ever changing…not an explosion of fireworks…but instead a slow evolution of subtleness as the harbor begins to glow. As visitors, stroll the length of Seneca Harbor Park they will enjoy clusters of talented musicians performing at select waterfront venues.When hunger strikes between waterfront eateries and the festival food court every family member is sure to find a favorite delight. As the sun slowly sets, the harbor lights begin to beckon…from yardarms among the harbor armada to the evolving colors reflecting on the imposing Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel.Each venue along the harbor offers beautiful views each highlighting the charm of the beautiful Watkins Glen Waterfront. The public are encouraged, and maybe even bribed, to vote for their favorite cardboard boat. All money collected for the “People’s Choice” benefits JDRF. At 2pm it’s the 20th Edition of the “Nearly Famous” Cardboard Boat Regatta. Laugh and applaud the bold and adventurous Captains and Crews of the Cardboard Boat Regatta as they bravely “sail’ their cardboard crafts from launch to break wall to finish line. The Cardboard Radio Network announcers, keep everyone informed about the antics of the Captains and Crews and whether they sink or made it to the finish line!And keep in mind, as with all Watkins Glen Promotions events, all activities and entertainment at the Waterfront Festival are free, including parking.
