Cayuga Lake search suspended until Saturday

Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg reports that search operations on Cayuga Lake for Christopher Dennis have been suspended for the day due to ever increasing inclement weather.Since beginning operations this morning, searchers have endured 4 to 5 foot breaking waves and heavy rain. As the day has gone on conditions have deteriorated further. Two volunteer fire department search boats suffered damage and put them out of service. The New York State Police have remained on the lake running sonar trails. “As the conditions have steadily declined during the day, we felt it prudent to get searchers off the lake for their safety”, said Sheriff Stenberg.Search efforts will resume at 8:00 AM on Saturday.
