Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg reports that Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a possible boating incident/missing person case. Deputies state that Christopher T Dennis, age 22, of Cayuga Heights Road in Ithaca left a campsite in the Town of Covert at approx 5:00 am by himself and put a canoe into Cayuga Lake.When he had not returned, friends began looking for him and a canoe was found overturned in the middle of the lake at approx 12:30 pm on Wednesday. At that point, a 911 call was made.The Seneca County Sheriff’s Navigation Patrol along with the Romulus Fire rescue boat searched the area.The Sheriff’s Office reports that further investigation and search efforts have resumed this morning.Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 315 539-9241.
