Man falls asleep at wheel causing crash in Waterloo

On Thursday at 10:53 a.m. Seneca County Sheriffs responded to a report of a personal injury auto accident at the intersection of State Route 5 and State Route 96A in the Town of Waterloo.A car driven by Donald C. Friday age 65 of Washington Street in Geneva, was slowing in traffic on State Route 5 in a easterly direction. A second vehicle also headed easterly on State Route 5 operated by Emmett J. McMahon age 84 of Route 21 south Canandaigua came from behind and did not stop striking the Friday vehicle.Border City Fire Department and North Seneca Ambulance responded to assist at the scene. Friday was treated at the scene and then transported to Geneva General Hospital.According to Sheriff’s Deputies the cause of the accident was due to McMahon falling asleep behind the wheel. There were no other injuries reported and no tickets were issued.
