Sunday evening Brutus fire deemed suspicious

Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department and the Cayuga County Fire Investigation Team are conducting an investigation into a house fire which occurred at 9:45pm last evening at 8407 Jericho Rd. in the Town of Brutus.The single story residence was completely destroyed. The residence was vacant and the electrical service had been shut off prior to the fire. At this time the cause of the fire is unknown and is deemed “suspicious.” Anyone with information about the fire or who witnessed any suspicious activity in that area is asked to contact Detective Steve Smith at (315) 253-4869.
