Penn Yan man charged with DWI on lawn tractor

Leon Clyde Fuller, age 46 of Sheppard Street in Penn Yan was arrested and charged with DWi on Saturday afternoon on North Ave. in the Village of Penn Yan.Fuller was observed by Penn Yan Police driving a lawn tractor west on North Ave. in the roadway and then on the sidewalk. Upon observing the patrol vehicle, Fuller attempted to edlude police by driving behind a residence.Police followed on foot and made contact with Fuller who appeared to be intoxicated. Fuller advised that he did not have a license and was on his way to buy beer and did not want to walk.Fuller failed a series of field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. A chemical analysis of his breath later revealed a B.A.C. of .15%.Fuller was charged with DWI, unlicensed operator, unregistered motor vehicle and operating without insurance. He was arraigned in Penn Yan Village Court on the current charged and also on a pending charge stemming from an incident on 5/1/13.He was then remanded to jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond. He will reappear in Village Court at a later date.
