Penn Yan man arrested trying to enter vehicles

On Saturday morning just after midnight, Penn Yan Village Police arrested Phillip Hanna Jr., age 27, of Main Street in Penn Yan after a complaint from a Grant Avenue resident that Hanna was seen trying to enter parked vehicles.Officers located Hanna on Liberty Street and after being told that he was being detained, he resisted officers’ commands and struggled with them until he was placed in handcuffs.Hanna was in possession of a woman’s wallet that was reported stolen from a vehicle on Grant Ave.He was charged with criminal possession of stolen property 5th degree, attempted petit larceny and obstruction of governmental administration 2nd degree. He was arraigned in Village Court where bail was set at $2,000 cash, $4,000 bond.
