The Waterloo Police Department, NYSP and Seneca County Sheriffs Department arrested Joshua L. Santa, age 20, and Angel L. Hernandez-Ramos, age 20, both of Welcher Road, Newark for the charges of Burglary 1st Degree, Robbery 2nd Degree and Assault 2nd Degree on April 15, 2013 at about 4:00 AM.The charges stem from an incident on April 14, 2013 at about 8:20 PM when Santa and Hernandez-Ramos allegedly entered an East Elisha Street village home and stole property inside the residence. Santa and Hernandez-Ramos allegedly struck a resident inside the home over the head several times with what appeared to be a handgun and forcing him to the ground. The victim was able to fight the attackers off and the suspects then fled the scene on foot.Witnesses to the crime observed the suspects leaving the residence and provided officers with an excellent description of the suspects. Responding Police Officers from the Waterloo Police, NYSP and Seneca County Sheriffs Department pursued the suspects and were able to quickly take the two suspects into custody, one of which was armed with a hand gun that was later identified as a BB gun.The victim sustained severe lacerations to his head but refused treatment for his injury. The victim was treated by Law enforcement at the scene.Santa and Hernandez-Ramos were arraigned in Waterloo Village Court and sent to the Seneca County Jail on $50,000 cash bail/$100,000 bond.The case is still under investigation.
