Local author, Nancy A. Midey-Galusha, has announced the release of her book; The Ribbon is Black for a Reason: How Melanoma Changed My Life In Four Short Months (Author House Publishing Co.) Book signings are scheduled for Thursday, April 11 at The Hotel Clarence on Fall St. Seneca Falls from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and April 20 at the Seneca Falls Public Library from 3:00-5:00 p.m. This book was written to honor the memory of the author’s deceased husband, Gerard (Jerry) Galusha, and to thank the community of Seneca Falls and beyond for the support and devotion to Jerry and his family during the time of Jerry’s illness and after his untimely death. Jerry was a beloved figure in Seneca Falls as he worked for the former Village of Seneca Falls as well as coordinating the coaching youth lacrosse for many years.The book outlines the journey that Jerry and his family took upon his diagnosis of stage IV metastatic malignant melanoma (skin cancer) and the 4 short months that he lived after his diagnosis; a journey that included traveling to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, fundraisers given by the SFPD and the Mynderse Academy Boys and Girls Soccer Club and countless hours of care given by many of Jerry’s family and friends and more.
