Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports, on Friday at 8:28 pm, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a chimney fire at 4723 East Lake Road in the Town of Varick. The home, owned by Christopher M. Smith age 32 of the same address suffered extensive fire damage but was contained to a small portion of the residence.Smith was at home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury.Firefighters from Varick, Border City, Waterloo, Ovid and Fayette responded and quickly extinguished the fire. New York State Police also assisted at the scene. The home is insured.
