Lyons sophomore guard Damon Hunter proved he wasn’t afraid of big situations when he helped his team to a share of the Wayne County League title in a hostile environment in Clyde on February 13th. Now he and his teammates will have a chance to play on the biggest stage in Section V.Head coach Zac Young will have a chance to win his first sectional title as his Lyons Lions advanced past Perry, 59-52, on Monday night at R.I.T.Sophomore sensation Damon Hunter lead the Lions with 24 points. Senior big man Tre’ Johnson scored 16 and pulled down 13 big rebounds. D.J. Long also grabbed 10 rebounds.Perry had a heroic effort from Anthony Ricotta who scored 26, including 10 for 11 from the charity stripe, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Lyons’ balanced attack.Lyons will face #4 seed York (16-4) for the Class C2 title at 1:00 on Saturday at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. York advanced by upsetting the top seeded Caledonia-Mumford in overtime.With the win, Lyons moves to 17-2 on the season.
