Geneva High School senior Shane Sweeney officially signed his national letter of intent to attend the University of Albany to play football on Wednesday in front of friends, family, and coaches.Albany is an NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (formally I-AA) program. Sweeney is going on a three-quarter athletic scholarship.Sweeney was the starting quarterback on this year’s successful Geneva Panther football team”It’s a huge relief,” Sweeney told the Finger Lakes Times. “Now I can just focus on the basketball season. It’s a greatexperience and once basketball is over, I can just focus on what I’m going to be doing at Albany and getting ready to play my role at the next level.”
