A Former VFW commander of the Corning VFW has been accused of stealing thousands from the Corning VFW. Charged with third-degree felony larceny, is Edward Bassett. He is alleged to have stolen between 3 and 50 Thousand dollars.The investigation started after a VFW member filed a complaint with police and the NYS Racing and Wagering Board back in January of 2011. Bassett is believed to have taken thousands from games of chance at the VFW. Bassett recently resigned his position as town of Hornby Planning Clerk.
