The Finger Lakes Daily news reported this morning that Patricia Spears of Savona has pleaded quilty to embezzling more than $50 thousand dollars from a Benton business in Yates County Court.Spears admitted that while working as a bookkeeper at DeWick Equipment Sales and Service, she embezzled the money between March of 2010 and Sept. of last year and forged her employer’s signature.Part of the plea deal will see that Spears gets offered a reduced sentence of 3 to 9 years in prison instead of a possible 15 years. She must also re-pay more than $77 thousand dollars in restitution to DeWick.
