Two arrested in northern Cayuga Co. burglaries

MeserollSheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two persons in connection with a series of burglary and suspicious persons calls received early yesterday morning. The Sheriff’s Office took reports of a burglary to an occupied dwelling, suspicious footprints around a residence, and suspicious persons at the door all on Pople Rd. in the Town of Victory. The investigation by Patrol Deputies and Detectives resulted in the arrest of the following two persons and the recovery of the stolen property from within their residence in the Village of Cato.Ryan J. Meseroll age 21 and Jessica R. Parker-Sharkey age 19 of Cato, N.Y. were arrested and charged as follows:(1) Count Burglary in the Second Degree- felony(1) Count Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree- felonyRyan Meseroll was also charged with Burglary in the 3rd degree and Petit Larceny in reference to a burglary at TC’s Diner in the Village of Cato which occurred last October. MeserollBoth subjects were arraigned at 8:00pm last evening in the Town of Victory Court. Ryan Meseroll was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. Jessica Parker-Sharkey was released on her own recognizance. At approximately 9:05pm last evening, after being released on the above charges, Jessica Parker-Sharkey was observed by a Cayuga County Patrol Deputy operating a vehicle on NYS Rt. 34 in the Village of Cato. She was stopped and charged with Failure to Signal a Turn and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd. She was arraigned in the Town of Ira Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail.The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating a series of burglaries and larcenies from vehicles which occurred overnight January 20th to 21st. Numerous residents in the Town of Ira reported their vehicles gone through and various items and money stolen. Some of the vehicles that were gone through were parked in unlocked garages. It is unknown at this time if these incidents are all related. None of the items recovered yesterday were connected with the incidents reported on the 21st.
