Auburn man charged after 84 harrassing calls

WatkinsSheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police have arrested Thomas R. Watkins, age 39, of Auburn for multiple misdemeanors following an investigation into harassing telephone calls. The two agencies received complaints from 6 separate individuals who received telephone calls during the early morning hours of January 3rd.An examination of Watkins telephone records indicates that as many as 84 of these types of calls were made to these and several other people. These calls appeared as “private” or “blocked” to the recipients.During the investigation into the phone calls it was also learned that Watkins provided alcoholic beverages to three persons under the age of 21 on May 4th 2012. Watkins was charged on 01/12/13 with the following:6 counts Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree- (phone calls)2 counts Stalking in the Fourth Degree- ( sent an anonymous letter to one victim, followed another victim in addition to the phone calls) 3 counts Unlawful Dealing With a Child in the First Degree -(provided alcohol to minors)Watkins was arraigned in the Town of Sennett Court on the Aggravated Harassment charges and one of the Stalking charges and was released after posting $2500 cash bail. Watkins was issued appearance tickets for the Town of Aurelius Court regarding the Unlawful Dealing with a child charges and the second Stalking charge.
