Jana will give participants ideas to add color to their yard year round using interesting trees, shrubs and perennials. A lunch break, featuring homemade soups, fresh salad and great homemade desserts is followed by “Gardening With the Three Sisters: A Traditional Practice Still Relevant Today” with Jane Mt. Pleasant. Jane is an associate professor in the Department of Horticulture at Cornell University. Jane will offer a historical perspective on Iroquois agriculture and suggest ways you might adopt some of the principles of this traditional cropping system in your own garden. The day concludes at 2 PM with a Q&A session, door prizes and evaluations. All monies raised are used to support the Master Gardener program at SCCCE, a not-for-profit educational system.
