Late Wednesday evening Penn Yan Village Police received a complaint of two males wearing skI masks attempting to enter a residence on Main Street. After speaking with the victim, information was gathered and a short time later a vehicle was stopped on Main Street and the occupants were identified as Jeremiah Berch, age 27, of Penn Yan and Clarence Hall, age 27, of Hammondsport, NY.After interviewing the victim and suspects, it was determined that Berch and Hall went to the residence of the victim with the intent to cause him bodily harm.Village police charged Berch with attempted burglary 2nd, a class D felony, conspiracy 5th, a class E felony, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd, a class D felony, and criminal mischief 4th.Hall was also charged with attempted burglary 2nd, conspiracy 5th, and criminal possession of a weapon 4th.Both were arraigned in Penn Yan Village Court where bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
