A busy night in Wayne-Finger Lakes basketball on Friday night included; Geneva and Naples continuing their hot streak while Marcus Whitman and Churchville-Chili picked up their first wins of the season.Geneva 68, Penn Yan 49 Geneva stayed hot despite the cold weather picking up their sixth win in as many tried last night againt Penn Yan. Geneva outscored Penn Yan 22-11 in 3rd quarter. Geneva’s Akia Jackson and Junior Sims each had 14-point games while Shane Sweeney lead all scoring with 21 total points. With the loss Penn Yan evens their record out at 3-3-0 in 2012-13. James Burdette shot for 16 points and Eric Johnson hit 12 points in the loss. Marcus Whitman 58, Midlakes 48 Marcus Whitman picked up their first win in seven tries last night as Merritt Bailey shot for 10 points. Rhen Grover had an 8-point game while Matt Hall had 12 points, Tyler Rohrback had 9 and Luke Shively hit 13. Midlakes still searches for their first win as they drop to 0-5-0 on the season. Cam Colacino and Mike Gelder each shot for 8 points. Mynderse 63, Waterloo 43 Mynderse picked up their third win in five tried last night against Waterloo. Brandon Passalacqua shot for 15 points while teammates Jimmy Ricci had 14 and Luke Ruddy shot for 17. Waterloo dropped to 2-5-0 this season. Thomas France and Brad Steinruck each shot for 12 points respectively. Newark 75, Palmyra-Macedon 63 Newark improved to 4-2-0 last night as Anthony Lombardi shot for 20 points and had 15 rebounds. RonDerrick Morris had a 13-point game while teammates David Stone shot for 11 and Micah Wright for 15. Palmyra-Macedon evened their record out at 3-3-0 this season. Cody Eckerson had 19 total points in the loss. Naples 68, Honeoye 48 Naples continued their hot streak as they picked up their fifth win in as many tries. C.J. Kobus had a 21-point game while teammate Jake Ball had 20. Honeoye is now 5-2-0 on the season. Ben Cratsley had 20 total points in the loss.Red Jacket 67, Romulus-South Seneca 40 With the win Red Jacket improves to 3-1 in 2012-13. Mike Giaconia had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Dominic Vazquz and Tyler Liberty each shot for 10 points. Liberty also had 5 assists. Romulus-South Seneca fell to 0-7 this season. Alex Porter had a 13-point game and Harry Hyde shot for 11. Canandaigua 34, Victor 33 Canandaigua edged out Victor for their second win of the season. Colin McGlynn had 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals while Dillon Mergenthaler had 8 rebounds. Mitch O’Donnell and Sean Outhouse each shot for 8 points. Victor drops to 0-7-0 on the season. Luis Rivera had a 16-point game and Conor Powers shot for 12. Churchville-Chili 59, HF-L 41 Churchville-Chili picked up their first win last night in seven attempts this season. Rashad Richardson led all scoring with a 23-point game while teammate Anthony Lewis had a 16-point game in the win. HFL dropped to 2-4-0 on the season. Jake Apthorpe had 22 total points and 15 rebounds.
