The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce has announced that it will host its second community Ca$h Mob on Tuesday, December 18th at 5:30 pm. Similar to the Chamber’s highly successful ‘August Ca$h Mob’ (the first event of its kind in the region), the concept will again include hosting a scheduled mass gathering of shoppers at a local small business. The goal is to spur local economic activity by encouraging shoppers to make $20 worth of purchases at the selected small business. The Chamber’s first Cash Mob attracted more than 50 shoppers to Sauder’s Country Store in Seneca Falls on an otherwise slow mid-week day in August.Among the components that adds to the hype of the Seneca Cash Mob, is the fact that the location remains a mystery until the day prior to the event. The only information that is given out in advance is the date and time. Several hints that describe details about the mystery location are provided on the Chamber’s website and social media outlets leading up to the event. Attendees are both honored and thanked for their local patronage efforts, as well as their knowledge and support of community businesses by successfully solving the event’s location whereabouts, and supporting what the Cash Mob represents. “We are excited to be hosting another Ca$h Mob event in Seneca County,” stated Jeff Shipley, the Chamber’s Executive Director. “The concept of this event serves as part of a larger effort, on behalf of the Seneca County Chamber, to stimulate economic development in our region, raise awareness of the area’s Buy Local Campaign, and keep dollars and local businesses in the center of the Finger Lakes – where they rightfully belong ,” he added. The Chamber has announced that the event will be held on Tuesday, December 18th, where guests are invited to arrive at the chosen business at 5:30pm with the intention of making a small purchase (under $20). Community members will have the opportunity to network with others, and see first-hand, how a local business will benefit from the immediate economic stimulus. Location details can be found by looking for the event logo in posts on the Chamber’s websites- www.senecachamber.org and www.fingerlakescentral.com, as well as its social media outlets, Facebook- Seneca County (Chamber of Commerce) and Twitter (Seneca CountyNY), that has begun giving hints to the location’s details and whereabouts. For more information about this event, or details of how you can become involved, please call (315) 568-2906 or email charrington@senecachamber.org.
