In front a a nearly full auditorium on Monday nite, the Romulus BOE put a halt to merger hopes with a 5 to 2 vote stopping the issue from going to a public vote.Tensions grew as Romulus teachers rallied with signs and matching T-shirts supporting a community vote on the issue. The South Seneca BOE voted in favor of a public vote, but both boards needed to approve for the plan to move forward.Following the vote, the teachers abruptly left the auditorium while board President McCann stated that the meeting was not over.A merger, while now out of the question for the 2013-2014 school year, may still be revisited in the future.
