Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension will host a series of six webinars on marketing for farmers and Farm Markets entitled “Marketing for Profits: Tools for Success” from December through February in the conference room of their office at 308 Main Street Shop Centre in Waterloo. The second in the series, How Smart Are You, REALLY? will be held on Monday, December 10th from 10- 11:30 am and repeated on Tuesday, December 11th from 6 to 7:30 pm. Learn who your customers are, who your target customers are and how to identify their characteristics, needs and wants. How can you turn that information into a plus for your farm? This workshop will also discuss pricing strategies.The presenter will be Warren Abbot, Abbott Farms, Baldwinsville, NY. Abbott Farms is a successful multi-generational direct marketing farm featuring a farm market, PYO orchard, agritourism and recently added farmers markets to the mix. Warren will share his wealth of knowledge and experience in analyzing the customer to make your marketing efforts a success. The series is designed provide critical marketing insights for farmers and farm markets throughout the northeast and has been organized by the Farmers Market Federation of NY, the NY Farm Viability Institute and USDA Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research Education program.“We thought it was important to offer our agricultural producers the chance to take part in this series and to be able to do it in a setting where some discussion can take place.” noted Seneca County CCE educator Patti Battley. “We have a number of farmers who direct market to consumers and participate in farmers’ markets.
