Improvements made at Seneca Falls LL Field

Mark Benjamin, community relations director of Seneca Meadows Landfill in Seneca Falls recently presented Paul Kelley, president of the Seneca Falls Little League with a grant for the installation of a regulation pitching mound and other field enhancements to the little league’s field number one. The work was recently completed prior to Thanksgiving. Field number one is the main field at the little league complex, and these enhancements are designed to provide the children with a regulation playing facility. Until now, the pitching mound was not properly pitched at the appropriate elevation nor was the dimension correct. The infield also underwent key improvements to provide for a well manicured more even playing surface between the dirt and the grass delineation. The infield improvements were a necessary safety component. The donation by Seneca Meadows as outlined by the league covered approximately fifty percent of the cost of these field upgrades. The league intends to recognize the landfill at the field on opening day, with Benjamin throwing out the opening pitch at field number one on April 27, 2013.The Seneca Falls Little League needs additional assistance from others in the community for further field enhancements to the remainder of the fields at the complex. Those interested in helping may contact Gerald Graziano via the league’s website at www.senecafallslittleleague.org.
