On Tuesday morning, John Northrup, age 30 of Penn Yan, was charged by Village of Penn Yan Police with unlawfully fleeing a police officer, AUO 3rd degree, failure to comply, and speeding.An officer observed Northrup speeding on E. Elm Street. When the officer attempted to stop Northrup’s vehicle he failed to pill over and drove at speed in excess of 25 mph over the speed limit.A check of Northrups license revealed it was suspended for possession of drugs.The Yates County Sheriff’s office also assisted in the pursuit.Northrup was arraigned in Penn Yan Village Court and remanded to the Yates County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.
