They say that golf is not a game of perfect, but the Geneva High School varsity golf team has come pretty darn close during the past decade. The Geneva team closed out this fall’s golf season with its 10th consecutive Finger Lakes East championship, rolling to a record of 10 wins, one loss and one tie. It was also the ninth straight championship for Golf Coach Bill McDermott, who was named as the league’s Coach of the Year. McDermott, who has been coaching the team since 2004, points with pride to the fact that his golfers are also an All-Academic Team, with a grade point average of more than 90. McDermott is also a teacher at Geneva Middle School.
