Pair arrested for guns in SF held for Grand Jury

On October 4, 2012, a preliminary hearing was held in Waterloo Village Court involving defendants Gary Goodman and Christine Maddox, both of Elm Street, Geneva, who were charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (class D felony) and criminal possession of a stolen property in the fourth degree (class E felony). Maddox was also charged with a traffic infraction.Goodman and Maddox were arrested by Seneca Falls Police officers following a traffic stop after a stolen AK-47 assault rifle and a sawed-off .22 caliber rifle were allegedly found in their vehicle.At the hearing, Seneca County District Attorney Barry Porsch presented two police witnesses and one civilian witness. Ovid attorney Steven Getman represented Goodman and Assistant Public Defender John Nabinger represented Maddox. Village Justice Dean Mattoon ruled that the prosecutor presented sufficient evidence to sustain the charges against both defendants, who were remanded to the Seneca County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 secured bond. The case will now be presented to a Seneca County Grand Jury.The charges against the defendants are accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
