One to the hospital in Route 89 2-car crash

On Sunday at 12:27 pm Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the intersection of State Route 89, Wiley and Armitage Roads for the report of a personal injury motor vehicle accident.The accident occurred when Dennis E. Colegrove age 56 of Savannah, NY who had been stopped at the intersection on State Route 89 facing Armitage Road, began to proceed westbound through the intersection to drive onto Armitage Road. At the same time Steven Nicklus age 32 of Red Creek NY was traveling southbound on Wiley Road approaching the intersection in his vehicle.Nicklus then swerved and drove off the road into a ditch on the southwest side of the intersection.A passenger in Nicklus’s vehicle, Michelle Nicklus age 25, was transported from the scene to Newark Wayne Community Hospital for treatment of chest pain. No other injuries were reported.Colegrove was issued a traffic ticket for failing to yield the right of way at the intersection returnable to the Town of Tyre Court on October 24th 2012 at 7:00 pm.
