The Geneva Panthers led 27-12 at halftime of Friday night’s football opener in Newark against the Reds. They surpassed their first half point total in one quarter coming out of the half with a 34 point third quarter. The final score was Geneva 61, Newark 40.Geneva was led by Josh Jackson’s 194 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. QB Shane Sweeney was 16-22 on the day for 309 yards and 6 touchdowns. Sean Cunningham caught 4 of those while Jessie Lewis snared the other 2 TD’s.For Newark, QB Phil Tack threw for 291 yards and 4 touchdowns while also running one in. Micah Wright caught 6 balls for 158 yards and four touchdowns and also had 2 carries for 67 yards and another touchdown.Geneva moves to 1-0 to start the season, Newark begins the 2012 campaign at 0-1.
