Arrest made in Union Springs arson case – FingerLakes1.com Archive

Sheriff David Gould reports that a joint investigation between the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the Cayuga County Fire Investigation Team has lead to an arrest in connection with the arson fire at 16 Park St. Union Springs, which occurred on July 30th. Shortly after the fire was extinguished fire investigators discovered evidence indicative of arson and notified Sheriff’s Detectives. The investigation lead to the discovery that the same house had been burglarized for it’s copper two days prior to the fire and lead to the arrest of James “JT” Workman for that burglary. The investigation continued and this afternoon Sheriff’s Detectives charged James “JT” Workman with the arson.James T. Workman age 24 of 12 Seminary Ave. Union Springs, N.Y.Arson in the Third Degree ( felony )- arrested at the Cayuga County Jail and arraigned in the Town of Springport Court. Remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
