Keuka Wine Trail celebrates harvest

Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes, the Keuka Lake Wine Trail invites visitors to experience a weekend of wine tasting paired with foods highlighting the best of regional flavors. The eight wineries of the Keuka Lake Wine Trail will once again usher in the fall season with their popular Harvest Celebration of Food and Wine, September 15-16, 2012. Ticket holders will receive a signature wine glass at their starting winery and sample a delicious array of world-class Finger Lakes wines, from classic dry varietals to luscious sweeter wines, along with an assortment of autumn-inspired foods. The event runs from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, and from 11am to 5pm on Sunday. “We time the event to be enjoyed as grapes ripen and local farmers are showcasing a vast selection of fruits and vegetables. The abundance of local produce provides an excellent opportunity for wineries to utilize the freshest and highest quality products,” says Mike Oliver, Café Director at Heron Hill Winery. While driving along Keuka Lake’s scenic wine route attendees will enjoy the scents and sights of the harvest season studded by stops at wineries offering savory and sweet specialties prepared with ingredients from the local bounty such as squash, corn, apples and grapes. The winemaker and vineyard crew are likely to be either harvesting or pressing grapes, and event attendees will enjoy mingling with the tasting room staff to taste and appreciate the fruits of the labor.Tickets may be purchased online at www.keukawinetrail.com, by phone 800.440.4898, or at any Wegmans customer service desk.
