Winery of the Year award for Dr. Frank’s

The news of winning “Winery of the Year” and “Governor’s Cup” for its 2011 Semi-Dry Riesling at the 2012 New York Wine & Food Classic Competition, could not be more significant and humbling for Dr. Frank Wine Cellars as it celebrates its 50th Anniversary year. This is the third time Dr. Frank Wine Cellars has won “Winery of the Year”, first in 2001, then in 2006. The Governor’s Cup is the second for Dr. Frank’s, the first time being in 1996. The “Winery of the Year” award is presented to the winery with the best overall showing based on the level and number of awards in relation to entries at the competition. The elegant Governor’s Cup, a large silver chalice, recognizes the “Best of Show” or top prize of all 773 entries in the Classic, known as “The Oscars” of New York wine. Dr. Konstantin Frank Wine Cellars also won gold medals for its Dr. Frank 2011 Riesling Reserve and Dr. Frank 2011 Muscat Ottonel at the New York Wine & Food Classic.”Winning Winery of the Year and Governor’s Cup this year is extremely meaningful for us as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary year.
