Seneca Sheriff names Robert Lahr Chief Deputy

Robert LahrSeneca County Sheriff Jack S. Stenberg announced today that Robert Lahr, a nineteen year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office has been appointed to serve as Chief Deputy, replacing James D. Spike who retired earlier this year. In making the announcement, Sheriff Stenberg said “Rob has been a faithful and dedicated member of the Sheriff’s Office serving the citizens of Seneca County for almost two decades. He has not only the respect of the fine men and women of this Office, but from law enforcement agencies we work with on a daily basis. He comes to the Chief Deputy position following a fifteen year assignment in the Criminal Investigations Division. During that time his responsibilities included responding to all types of crime scenes and conducting felony level investigations. Lahr serves as a member of the Accident Reconstruction Team is an advanced computer voice stress analysis examiner. He has attended numerous law enforcement classes and seminars throughout his career. Lahr will be responsible for exercising command and administrative oversight along with the Sheriff and Undersheriff Sullivan of the law enforcement division. “We have brought about a great deal of change for the positive to the Sheriff’s Office since taking office and there are many more programs we would like to institute and Chief Deputy Lahr will take a lead role in those changes&rdq u o; said Stenberg. Lahr will be required to take and pass a civil service examination and score in the top three to qualify for the position on a permanent basis. The examination is scheduled for October 21, 2012.
