On 07/28/12 at approximately 12:31 a.m. the Seneca Falls Police Department arrested Joshua R. Sperber, age 22, of 14 White Street, Seneca Falls, NY for Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, Falsely Reporting an Incident in the 3rd Degree, and Felony Assault 2nd. The arrest comes after Sperber called 911 stating there was an emergency and needed officers to respond to his location immediately.Upon officers arrival, Sperber was observed being belligerent and appeared confrontational. Sperber continued to act in this manner towards officers, at which point he was told that he was under arrest for disorderly conduct. Sperber attempted to walk away from officers and officers attempted to place his hands behind his back to be handcuffed. Sperber then punched one officer in the side of the officer’s head and engaged in a physical altercation with officers.Sperber continued to resist arrest and officers had to pepperspray Sperber in an effort to prevent him from continue to resist being placed under arrest. Sperber was then handcuffed and taken into custody. During the incident, one officer sustained a head injury and another officer sustained an injury to his finger.Both were taken by ambulance to Geneva General Hospital for treatment and were released. Sperber was arraigned on all charges and committed to SCCF on $50,000 Cash/$100,000 Bond and is to re-appear in Seneca Falls Town Court on 08/01/12 at 2:45 p.m. for a felony hearing.
