Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould is requesting the public’s assistance with an ongoing arson investigation. At approximately 1:09 AM this morning the Cayuga County 911 Center received a report of a possible house fire at 16 Park Street in the Village of Union Springs. Responding emergency personnel confirmed that the home was on fire. The fire was quickly contained. The home is currently vacant and was not occupied at the time of the fire.The initial investigation into the cause of the fire has determined that it was intentionally set. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office would like to interview anyone that may have witnessed anyone near the home at 16 Park Street in Union Springs during the evening hours of Sunday July 29th thru the early morning hours of today’s date (July 30th). Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call Detective Brian Schenck with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office at 315-253-3545.
